Labor Day Camping

Labor Day weekend we headed up North for a 2 day camping trip! We really wanted to get out of the heat and since we didn't have a chance to camp during the summer we decided to use the last weekend of summer to get out of town.

 Making wishing with dandelions.

Hiking Kinder Crossing Trail which was a good hike! The kids found a baby horned lizard and lots of birds.

At the bottom of the trail there was a river the kids had to play in.

The kids are playing soccer this season. They are both very excited about it. We got a lot of practice in which was fun!

Of course we had to have S'mores to end every night! Very Yummy!!!

First Day of School

Keira started another year in preschool at Ms. Judi's. There are only 5 kids in her class and she really enjoys going!

Tyler started 2nd grade! His teacher is Mrs. Taylor and he says school is awesome which is huge coming from a kid who doesn't like leaving the house much!

Summer

We have had a busy and fun summer! I can't believe the kids start school in 3 weeks!!! Ty will be in 2nd grade and Keira will be in preschool!

Keira and Tyler holding puppies! We are helping my Aunt Shelly foster four puppies for a couple of weeks. They are adorable (mutts) and are quite a handful! The kids love them and have been a big help taking care of them.

IT RAINED! Yes, we are very excited when it rains here. We recently had several good rain storms. Saturday's rain left our yard flooded and the kids loved the puddles!

We are enjoying the pool once again. The kids are swimming really well! Both has promoted a class this season which is great!

Tyler on a kayak fishing trip with daddy. They didn't catch anything but had a good time!

Ty turns 7!

Ty turned 7 on the 15th! We celebrated by going to Madagascar 3 & McDonald's! We also had a great weekend swimming and playing games!

Ty has wanted a fish tank for years. Brian found a tank on Craigslist and with some cleaning and treating the water for a week, it was ready for fish on Sunday. So, in celebrating Father's Day too, we went to Petsmart and picked out 4 new fish! Ty loves ocean animals so he picked a Bala Shark and a Rainbow Shark. Keira picked an Angelfish and Brian picked a Gold Gourami. We will add more fish in a couple of weeks.

So far all the fish are adjusting well. We love watching them and the kids are enjoying feeding them. I get the night feeding job of bloodworms. Yeah!! :) Ty and Keira are still working on naming the fish but it seems to be a challenging task since the names keep changing!

Celebrating Our 10th Wedding Anniversary!

Brian and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary with a 7 day cruise to the Eastern Caribbean (Bahamas, St. Thomas, San Juan and Grand Turk)! This was Brian's first cruise and it was a wonderful time full of relaxing and new adventures. My parents watched the kids for us and kept them very busy with fun activities and new places to see!

Our first port was the Bahamas. Carnival has their own private island. We did not plan an excursion, just relaxed on the beach. It was great!

Our second port was St. Thomas. Our excursion was the majority of the time at port so we don't have any pictures (oops). We went on a catamaran snorkel tour which was a lot of fun. Brian showed major patience with me since I am not so great about snorkeling or getting into the ocean. I did, finally, and we had a good time. We quickly learned we needed to get me my own mask and snorkel to make the experience more enjoyable.

Our third port was San Juan. We loved it there! We didn't book an excursion, decided to walk around and explore on our own. We are so glad we did. We walk all over Old San Juan visiting the forts, churches, and a yummy local restaurant for lunch!

We ended our trip at the Bacardi Distillery! They actually make the rum there and with a free tour and drinks, it was a great way to end the day.

Our last port was Grand Turk. We walked some historical houses and toured the Grand Turk Museum. We also had our second snorkel trip which went much better since I had my new mask and snorkel!

Of course we had to eat lunch at Margaritaville in Grand Turk! It was very good!

School's Out!

I can't believe school is out! This year flew by! Ty did amazing in 1st grade! He brought home his last report card today with 'excels' in all subjects!

Hanson, Aiden, and Tyler. Aiden (middle) is moving to Nevada so that was hard for Tyler to say goodbye to another good friend.

Ms. Hogue was an amazing teacher! I am so happy I was able to volunteer in the classroom every Wednesday thanks to my Aunt Shelly watching Keira! I loved getting to know all the students and the teacher this year.

Tyler's very messy desk! He had to recycle or take home all his work. He recycled most of it!

Tyler's 1st grade performance (top row). He wasn't too excited to dress up but he sang all the songs and it was fun to watch him! I can't believe he is going into 2nd grade!

Keira graduated from preschool on Tuesday with a party at Bounce U. She attended a home-based preschool with Ms. Judi. There were only 5 kids in the class which gave a lot of one on one time! Keira learned how to spell her name, began to read, and made a lot of new friends.

Keira will attend Ms. Judi's next year in the pre-k class! The same kids in her preschool class (shown in the above picture) will be in her pre-k class.
